The Victoria Inn is often praised for its convenient location, a short walk from the city center, Durham Cathedral, and the university. Guests appreciate the spacious, clean rooms with comfortable beds, and many highlight the convenience of having tea and coffee making facilities. The presence of a traditional pub downstairs is a definite plus for many visitors, though some have noted occasional noise from it later in the evenings. The private parking and the proximity to the historic parts of Durham, including views of the rear of the cathedral, contribute to making it a great value choice.

Superior Pub Stay

The bed was quite comfortable. A proper kettle meant I could make a decent cup of tea. Hooks are present on the bathroom door. A car park was available, I was very pleased.

Authentic Inn Experience

helpful staffclean roomconvenient parkingfriendly locals
I found the staff helpful and very friendly . The room was clean and all expected amenities in a larger hotel were available. Parking was convenient. I also enjoyed meeting locals in the bar downstairs. The experience was quite enjoyable.
I noticed the room had quite a few cushions on the bed. They took up too much space when removed at night.

Excellent Stay Near the Cathedral

free parkingclean layoutconvenient locationamazing pub
The hotel's free parking was a definite advantage. My room had a spacious, clean layout that I appreciated. The location proved very convenient to the cathedral and the city center. The pub downstairs had very kind people (I enjoyed it).
The room's window did not fit very well.

a somewhat underwhelming stay

non-functioning radiatorlarge spiders
the room i had felt a bit dated, i must say. the radiator didn't seem to work at all, so the room was quite chilly, especially at night. also, i found some rather large spiders lurking behind the curtains. i really didn't appreciate that.

A Satisfactory Stay

friendly stafffree parkingroom hairsshelf location
The staff helped us a lot. They showed us to our room immediately. They also pointed out the free parking area. The pub downstairs provided a good atmosphere and also friendly service. We enjoyed a drink there.
I did notice a few black hairs in the room. They were near the kettle and on the bed. The bathroom sink had a shelf above it. This made brushing teeth difficult.
